That photo is a blurry but accurate representation of the Icon
of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in St. Mary's Church in Albany,
New York. The lights, or the hand of God, make the icon appear
to be crying. Actually, it's probably not the lights because the
shine - just under her eyes - is visible from every angle in the
Church.
Miracles abound.
I recently received an e-mail from a reader of this site.
It was about a year ago, when he was kind enough to forward
some very amazing images of the opening ceremony at the
Olympic games in Canada. Here's the commentary I wrote
about the event (thanks to Glen's information).
Anyway, Glen e-mailed an image from the Egyptian uprising
the other day. This image was taken in Egypt on the feast of
Our Lady of Lourdes - February 11, 2011 - the day Hosni
Mubarak stepped down. Glen was curious if Our Lady might
make an appearance of sorts somehow on her feast and
during the high-profile events in Egypt. Here is the original
link to the image.
Below you will find some images I cropped. Granted, it is
difficult to see (especially with digital images) but I think
some of you may see the image Glen pointed out. Perhaps
Our Lady of Lourdes? Or perhaps Our Lady of Fatima.
Also, the fact that she is leaning forward leads me to believe
Glen may have indeed spotted something. If the image
wasn't leaning, I may have bought the theory that it was part
of one of the buildings.
This has happened in Egypt before...
The Blessed Mother appeared at a Coptic Church (actually
above it) in 1968. She also allegedly appeared again in 2009.
Interestingly, she chooses to appear atop buildings in this
predominantly Muslim country. I have no doubt that some
day the crescent which is the symbol of Islam, and sits atop
many of the buildings in this part of the world, will be replaced
by her Son's glorious cross. Perhaps Christ is sending her to
silently announce His coming victory.
